MSc in Mental Health Service and Population Research

Why choose this MSc?

Teaching and Support

Our students receive the very best teaching and support from from specialist lecturers who are active researchers within the Health Service and Population Research Department.

Clinical Placement Scheme

This year, in addition to the core teaching elements of the programme, we aim to further enrich student experience and aid career development by providing opportunities to join our Research Placement Scheme.

This scheme will provide committed students with experience of working with clinical populations and carrying out research in the clinical or academic setting. Participants in the scheme will be supervised by senior clinicians/researchers from the Health Service and Population Research Department.

By offering students the opportunity to link their placement to their dissertation, we hope to encourage students to maximise the development of their research skills and interests.

This scheme is particularly appropriate for those wishing to pursue clinical psychology or PhD training.

Is it right for you?

We aim to provide a stimulating learning environment for all those with a strong interest in mental health who wish to gain comprehensive research skills- to develop their ability to critical appraise and interpret others' findings and to carry out their own research in real-life settings.

Therefore, we are supportive of either full or part-time study- enabling individuals to select the option best suited to their needs.

The programme attracts talented students from a range of professional and academic backgrounds. The Health Service and Population Research Department is offering three scholarships covering the cost of 50 percent of home/EU fees for students enrolling on the programme for 2011/12.
